Weight

The vacuum cleaner should be light and comfortable to use as it is generally meant for tight areas and quick pick-ups. Handle should be ergonomically designed and heavy ones may cause unprecedented discomforts.

Battery Time

The handheld vacuum cleaners works through a charging system and hence can be used any time, any where. One full charge is apt for a complete performance. Some models give only 5 minutes of work time while some may last up to 30 minutes. However a wall mounted charging system is the best recommended and most convenient.

Capacity

The handheld vacuum cleaner with large capacity can be relied on. The dirt cup should be easy to empty. Some models have one-touch system to empty the dirt cup while others require force to remove the dirty filter with hands before dumping the dirt cup.

With innumerable designs and options available one has the freedom to choose one with motorised brush attachment, one with crevice attachment, extension wands or upholstery brush attachments.

Warranty

Generally the lifespan of handheld vacuum cleaners is short. The warranty should be checked always. Less maintenance is generally required for a handheld one but it should be regularly checked for optimal performance.
